Our Ministry Area covers a wide area of upper Usk Valley stretching 17 miles from Llwyel in the west to Llandetty in the east and serving a population of about 11,000 in the inspiring Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. The largely agricultural valley is surrounded by hills and mountains notably the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) to the south and Mynydd Epynt to the north. There are twenty-one churches in the Ministry Area and, other than in Brecon which the largest centre of population, our churches are in rural settings – mostly in villages but some tucked away in the countryside. Almost all of our churches are of historic interest with the foundation of some dating back to Celtic times. See the Map for an overview of the locations of our churches, and Our Churches for details of each church.
