Revd. Rich Wootten is the Vicar of the churches of Llanfaes, Merthyr Cynog, Llandefaelog, and Aberyscir, and Chaplain at Christ College Brecon. A Third Order Franciscan, Rich blends contemplative spirituality with hands-on, practical ministry and his Churchmanship is a lifelong work-in-progress. He is committed to making worship accessible and meaningful for all, with a particular love for the Eucharist as the heart of Christian life.
Rich’s ministry is rooted in community engagement and mission. He has pioneered new worshipping communities, such as the Pizza & Praise service, and supports outreach initiatives for those experiencing addiction, homelessness, and isolation. He also develops creative approaches to rural ministry, including all-age services and seasonal events.
Alongside his ministry, Rich is a martial arts instructor, teaching kickboxing and training in Taekwondo. He is passionate about the links between faith, personal well-being, and resilience, drawing inspiration from thinkers such as Thomas Merton, Richard Rohr, and John Mark Comer.
