The Rev’d. Dr. Rhodri Williams, AG

Deacon

Email: rhodriwilliams@cinw.org.uk

Having trained with us for three years – dividing his time between the Ministry area and Brecon Cathedral – Rhodri was recently ordained deacon at the Cathedral, to work as a non-stipendiary minister in the MA. He is currently the Assistant Curate for Aberyscir, Merthyr Cynog, Llandefaelog, and Llanfaes, supervised by the Rev’d. Rich Wootten.

A native Welsh speaker, Rhodri is passionate the language’s promotion, particularly in youth and worship contexts.

As a member of the Society of Catholic Priests, he holds to the centrality of the Eucharist to our spiritual and communal lives (supplemented by keeping the Daily Offices), whilst also being ever-open to the multifaceted gifts of other traditions – Llanfaes’ weekly “Pizza & Praise” service being a particular joy!

He is also a founding member of the Anglican Greyfriars order of Franciscans, so you have likely already seen him floating around the area in a grey habit and battered sandals…

Rhodri holds a PhD in Church Music Composition, as well as a Diploma in Clinical and Pastoral Counselling, and an MA in Philosophy, Theology, and Religion. He hopes to complete his ongoing BTh in Theology for Discipleship, Ministry, and Mission during his curacy.

Alongside the above, Rhodri works full-time for the Welsh Ambulance Service (both as a clinician and a chaplain), and in his “spare” time he enjoys hillwalking with his wife, daughter, and dog, collecting more books than he might ever hope to read, and fantasising about finally finishing the DIY on his family’s Victorian house…!
